“All you need is love”. A beautiful song by one of the most famous rock bands, The Beatles. These words have been said by many and felt by all humans through the ages. It is a core tenant of all the major religions and is also integrated into the new age spiritual movements from the last 60 years.

From ancient times It has been sung by artists, scribed by writers and poets, been preached by lay people and felt amongst families and friends. When we end the day with our children and put them to bed we say “I love you".

Yet how does this powerful emotion and expression through words and actions, translate into a healthy body and mind?

I must first speak to the fact that every human being living on the planet today started out as a sperm from their father and egg from their mother. Though the sexual act of two people is not always expressed in a loving way, the physical union of that sperm and egg contains within it the essence of love or creative force that provides life to the human being.

Now this spirit, if you like, may not be apparent to everyone. However if you have had the pleasure of witnessing a birth, you see within this innocent tiny human, the seed of love, this essence of being.

This leads me to the story about a Japanese researcher who was fascinated with water. His name was Masaru Emoto and he took his fascination with water and created the most amazing experiment.

He would take small petri dishes of water and would write messages on them and would play music around these dishes. At the same time he would freeze the them.

For messages he wrote words such as “love, truth, anger, gratitude, thank you, love, appreciation and hate” to name a few. For music he played classical, heavy metal, love songs etc. He would leave the frozen water overnight in his lab. The next day he would take pictures of the frozen crystals and if you have never seen them, these pictures speak louder than words.

Suffice it to say, the more loving and kind the words were, the more calm and pleasant the music, the more beautiful the crystals appeared when they were photographed. Over the years these experiments were repeated by others and the results were similar.

His conclusion from his work was that if humans are 60-70% water, then the words we speak to ourselves and others are truly powerful and can have a positive or negative effect depending on how we speak in our life.

This brings me back to us humans living on the planet today and the thoughts that move through our minds everyday about ourselves and others. For when we lose sight of the essence of love within ourselves, we find it more difficult to see it in others. When we have the clarity and feeling of love within, we are able to see that with more ease in our fellow brothers and sisters. When we are really awakened to this love, we can even see it in those humans who are committing horrific acts against other humans, animals and mother earth.

We have the power at any time, to shift our mind, words and actions to a more loving perspective, which is not predicated on whether others can see it too. Though paradoxically as our awareness of love grows, it supports others to see the presence of love as well.

This nutrient of love when consumed on a daily basis can guide our actions in most profound ways.

We will be more kind and generous when we speak to others. We will appreciate and take more care of the water that is in us and around us. We will be guided to eat food that has been cultivated with a loving spirit, to eat animals that have been raised with a sense of respect for their well being or not eat them at all. We will look at planet earth as our home, as a living organism and not as a place that we should disrespect with our actions.

The love nutrient will give us the strength and hope to see the beautiful possibilities in humanity today and our future tomorrow’s and put our focus on cultivating and nourishing our local communities, our fellow humans and planet earth as a whole.

For this creative loving power fuels all of us, from the first human that appeared on planet earth, to the human being that is born right now.

Love truly is the most vital nutrient in our lives and will contribute to the healing of our planet as we move into the future.
